Tresemme Naturals

I’ve seen this product online for a very long time before it actually landed in SA stores. So here’s my review. I used the conditioner and the shampoo and here’s my take.

Note I don't have a photo of the shampoo but those were in a black bottle like so:

For starters the shampoo has a gorgeous feel and doesn’t let my hair feel sticky at all. When it comes to the conditioner it simply glides and detangles with ease. I think some curlies refer to this as it having a good “slip”. Many users will find that because the conditioner isn’t to tacky, it allows for a leave in treatment for deep conditioning or you can simply leave it in and not rinse out at all. Doing twists and even braidouts with the conditioner in left my hair quite defined.

Benefits recap:
  • Non-sticky shampoo and conditioner
  • Excellent slip shampoo
  • Easy to apply
  • Excellent detangling conditioner
  • Clean feel shampoo without causing tangles
·
·       The Tresemme Naturals range is pretty affordable ranging between R50 and R70, depending on the Treseme brand size availability as they come in 750ml and 900 ml bottle. However, I must add that I haven’t seen the product in stores for a while and I’m not sure if it’s been replaced with the Tresemme  Botanique Expert  Collection as these are also sulphate free.

You can purchase Tresemme at most retail grocery and pharmacy outlets throughout South Africa.

4 Cute Updos for Valentines Day

Updos have been around for many years, in fact, the popular “Beehive” updo from the 60’s was a fashion trend for a long time and still features today in a modern retro twist. A typical updo is basically a ponytail, however, an actual updo is more exclusive and chic and seen worn as a hair style for an evening or special ado. Updo’s is all the hair pinned up and nothing falling free, but some can incorporate some lose strands which forms part of the style. With Valentine’s Day coming up, here are some beautiful updo’s to try for your special day with your significant other. You can choose a fun beach chic look or a more elegant, detailed look.

The following can be tweaked as you like and big afro curly locks also makes for a really cool trendy style even when pinned up from the sides and then into a more elegant but also fun Mohawk.

1- Beehive

Penelope Cruz - Beehive

The timeless beehive updo has been around for a long time and seen worn on many famous people of the ages. The beehive can be given a modern twist, or worn as the classic beehive hairstyle.

2- Bun
Tamera Mowry - Bun Updo

The popular bun can be worn any way as it is simply versatile and yet chic enough to wear to a special formal ado or casual for an everyday hairstyle.

3- French Twist
Rachel McAdams - French Twist

The French Twist was a popular hairstyle during the 50’s and 60’s and the timeless hairdo still often features for special occasions and can be you go-to hairstyle come this Valentine’s Day.

4- Chignon

Jada Pinkett Smith - Braided Chignon bun

A Chignon updo is virtually a twisted bun located at the nape of the neck. The Chignon updo gets its name from a French word meaning “nape” of neck. This is also a great look for formal or casual occasions.

Whichever updo you choose to wear this Valentin's Day, you can look great and wow the crowd with your gorgeous hairstyle.

Happy Valentine's Day :)

Keratin Treatment on Natural Hair

I’ve been considering and weighing my options to help loosen my natural curls for a long time. Yes I believe in being natural because that’s ultimately the best way to keep your hair healthy as chemicals may have adverse effects. However, because I don’t perm my hair often, my hair hasn’t been breaking off in anyway apart from the usual detangle shedding at wash day. My hair is currently over my shoulder and I am still continuing to grow it long. I am now looking into the option of a Keratin treatment perhaps and still weighing my options.

So what goes into a Keratin treatment?
In a nutshell, because hair is made of Keratin (protein), what the treatment does is promote the Keratin in the hair by adding more, which results in a smooth finish and less frizz. A Keratin hair straightening product will be applied to the hair which will be accompanied by a flat ironing process to lock the product into hair and activate it. For curls, the Keratin treatment will help smoothen and reduce the frizz so whether or not you choose to wear your hair curly or straight, it will look great and frizz free.

Process time
The process to have the treatment is fairly long and you have to make sure that you clear your schedule for the day and also take some reading material to keep you occupied.

Conclusion and benefits
·         Reduces styling time at home
·         Reduces frizz
·         Makes hair more manageable
·         Can wash and go
·         No need for lots of product
·         Long lasting
·         Relaxes and loosens curls
